Jewish Eduction Programming
Learning for all Ages
Jewish education for all ages and stages is an important value for Cultural Synagogue. We provide multiple avenues for learning and celebrating Humanistic Judaism. We apply a humanistic approach expressed by the Society for Humanistic Judaism to rely “on science, reason, experimentation, empathy, creativity, and artistic expression to address Jewish and universal human questions and to help improve the world and ourselves. We are committed to passing these values on to present and future generations through education and by our example.”
All educational opportunities, including our one and two year B Mitzvah program , are part of the Cultural Synagogue membership. Special fees may be required for some programs.
Our Jewish Education Programming includes:
Shabbat School (Ages 6-11): Our Shabbat School program offers a fun and engaging way for young children to learn about Jewish holidays, traditions, and values. Music education is included. We hold twice-monthly classes for our youth who are ages six to eleven.
B’nai Mitzvah Preparation (Ages 11-13): This program prepares students for their B'nai Mitzvah (a gender-neutral, non-binary term for “Bar Mitzvah” and “Bat Mitzvah”) with a focus on Jewish history, ethics, and the significance of the ceremony. Students are encouraged to explore their Jewish identity and develop a personal project as part of their preparation. We offer both one-year and two-year B'nai Mitzvah programs.
Adult Eduction: Adult education classes are taught by Rabbi Mary and explore the practice of Humanistic Judaism.
